"A sweet celebration of connection and inner softness in a culture that encourages hard individualism and prickly exteriors" - Brain Pickings
It tells the story of Felipe, a lovely, enthusiastic cactus born in a respectful family, who simply needed a hug.
In her debut picture book, Simona Ciraola creates an endearing tale of friendship, beautifully illustrated with buoyant wit and the perfect story to share.
What Wild & Wonder loved about this book:
We really love this particular sentence which served as a timely reminder for us as parents, about the priorities. "But Felipe thought his family worries about all the wrong things."
We are huge believers of a giving our kids a loving environment for the healthy development of children. Instead of just paying for everything they need to get them to "high position", their most precious need is actually our love. Having come across many bright, very ambitious and hard-working students with great academic results but poor social skills and or emotional regulation and a sense of emptiness in my work in the past, it made me realise that many parents, in their gallop to make sure that their children were capable of solving high school math questions while still in school, they forgot to show the young ones the affection and kindness which are most needed these days. This book is another big hit in our bedtime routine.
